The colorful badlands hills, flat-topped mesas, and sculptured buttes of the Painted Desert are primarily made up of the Chinle Formation, mainly fluvial (river related) deposits. The Petrified Forest National Park is a scenic wonder of land stuck in time.  Within Petrified Forest National Park, the layers of the Chinle Formation include the Blue Mesa Member, the Sonsela Member, the Petrified Forest Member, and the Owl Rock Member.

The Park features one of the worlds largest and most colorful concentrations of petrified wood. The Park spans over 93,533 acres, which includes the bad lands of Chinle Formations, the Painted Desert and a collection of 225 million year old fossils.

Activities include the park film, museums, hiking, photography and wilderness backpacking. Don’t forget to take lots of water and your lunch. Year round ranger programs are given and increase in the summer time.

Cedar Park is approximately 45 miles from Springerville , AZ. and Cedar Park Mobile Home & RV Park.  We have 1, 2 and 3 bedroom rentals and RV sites available.

The Park itself is in a central location to all that Northeast Arizona has to offer. To the southeast is Escudilla Mountain and the country towns of Nutrioso and Alpine. A few miles to the south is Big Lake, home to some of the best trout fishing in the White Mountains. And don’t forget the close local attractions such as Casa Malpais Ruins and Becker Lake.
